Descriptions are sufficient for kids but are not simplified and actually use larger words to be found in a glossary.It would make an ideal companion to Duellman and Trueb (see below), although Wells' book is written in a much more readable style than the other (which is a University level textbook). I wanted to make a book to get people interested in nature, but I also wanted to show how badly nature is doing. Petranka approaches the subject of salamanders from a more ecological viewpoint, discussing their individual habitats in great detail.
