About this deal

The upshot is that the Schwinn console is marginally better than the Assault console, but neither is that great. When deciding which air bike to buy, consoles shouldn’t be a deciding factor. Aesthetics The resistance levels provided by the Airdyne AD2 are stern enough to provide a challenge at all levels thanks to the high-strength air fan. Air bikes are ideal as they have a limitless level of challenge and enable you to adapt in an instant without needing to change fiddly settings on the machine. It’s an air bike that you’ll often see in commercial gyms and fitness studios, so that should give you an idea of its pedigree. Unlike rival Air Bikes, which can be overly noisy and feel particularly prone to breaking under hard usage, the Schwinn Airdyne AD8 Dual Action Air Cycle feels very well built and its clever fan design results in fewer decibels emitted.

Because of this, the Schwinn Airdyne AD8 comes pre-programmed with several interval training programmes, which range from 20 seconds of sprinting and 10 seconds of rest to more punishing 45 seconds or a minute of working time and slightly longer periods of rest. So, it’s pretty clear to see how good of a bike the new Airdyne Pro is, but who cares how good it is if you don’t know how to use it. With a selection of simultaneous upper/lower body or upper body only workouts you can find the perfect routine for your progression, whilst the natural human movement is stimulated thanks to its BioDyne™ Performance feature – which synchronizes the arm and leg motion accordingly. The Sunny Health & Fitness Air Bike takes pride in being a hybrid upright bike. It runs with a friction belt resistance to provide a consistent adjustable tension. The dynamic resistance increases as you increase the speed of your pedaling. Schwinn is a household name when it comes to exercise bikes and good-quality home fitness equipment. Their Airdyne range has three variants with the AD2 being the entry-level model. That being said, certain design flaws and strong competition have begun to chip away at Assault’s dominance, with the Rogue Echo even replacing it in the Crossfit Games (though upon comparing the two we hardly blame them). Schwinn Airdyne Pro If you are looking for something with multiple monitors, Bluetooth connectivity and another app to add to your fitness folder on your smartphone then you might want to look elsewhere – but if you want a good-quality machine that will stand the test of time and provide you with a tough workout, then the AD2 could be just what you’ve been looking for. Better built and with less maintenance required, I would choose the Schwinn Airdyne over the Assault bike for CrossFit. What About the Airbike Pro and Airbike Elite?

Unlike Schwinns of the past, the AD Pro belies its slender design offering stability, durability, and quality. Previous Schwinn frames have been burdened by design flaws, leveling problems, and durability issues, but there’s no sign of any of these on the AD Pro. A padded seat provides tremendous comfort and with fore/aft adjustments, users can position the saddle right where they want it. The universal rail and clamp system also allows users to change the seat entirely and swap it out with one of their choice for complete personalisation. It is entirely possible to sit on the Schwinn Airdyne AD8 and casually rotate the legs for an hour while watching television, but it's not really advised. You're better off with a standard recumbent bike, turbo trainer or exercise bike for that sort of thing. The saddle is worthy of particular mention as it has a good amount of padding which makes it comfortable to sit on for longer than your average saddle. The pedals and the foot grips are also particularly well made and make you feel perfectly secure with no risk of your feet slipping. Both professionals and home users can confidently enjoy the benefits of the Airdyne AD8, knowing that it will stand the test of time due to the corrosion resistance steel coating. The AD2 is the smallest of the three Airdyne models which is mainly due to it featuring a smaller display than its bigger siblings. The dimensions stand at 117cm x 64cm x 127cm which makes it pretty compact and a useful piece of home cardio kit. Obviously there is no huge difference in the bike. While the Assault Airbike takes the classic approach offering higher functionality and lesser new features, the Schwinn Airdyne a7 is just a little moderner and features some extra features that allow you to do various exercises at home. Is an Airdyne worth it?

An indoor cycle session has never been simpler thanks to the perimeter weighed performance fan for an easy start up and smooth ride, paired with a single stage belt drive system for efficient power transfer, low maintenance and quiet operation. Not only does this keep users refreshed and cool, but it also makes for a smoother and quieter workout. This means that users can confidently work out anytime, whether it’s in the early hours of the morning or late in the evening, without creating noise or disturbing others. The SCHWINN AD7 Airdyne Bike is a higher model compared to the AD2—the first product on our list. It’s more heavy-duty and offers more innovative features. To start, it caters to a heavier weight capacity of almost 160 kg. The seat is adjustable both in height and distance.Assault also offers a protective floor mat to keep your floors from getting destroyed, as well as a water bottle holder (which the Schwinn is already equipped with). The Schwinn Airdyne® AD2 Dual Action Air Cycle is built with a single stage-belt drive and is powered by a patent-pending fan, displacing the air effectively for an infinite number of resistance levels for the ultimate workout.

Both bikes use different formulas for measuring calories burned, affecting CrossFitters looking to burn a specific number of calories in each round. For most, the footrest will look similar to the ones you see on regular bikes—cylindrical. But you might feel more comfortable having a flat footrest to give your feet complete rest while still working out. Nevertheless, it will all boil down to the personal preference of each user. Multiple-Grip HandlebarsThe Airdyne Pro also features the first belt drive system on any air bike ever produced. Belt drives have been used for a little while on bicycles with great results, but this is the first time I’ve seen it in this type of application. Basically, rather than using your typical link chain, the bike uses a heavy-duty rubber belt often seen in cars. This allows for a few things:
